Rakesh Patel is the CEO and Founder of Alta Capital Real Estate, a private equity real estate fund based in Hong Kong. Alta Capital is focussed on investing in undervalued and undermanaged hospitality assets across Asia-Pacific, and repositioning them for evolving hospitality trends led by Lifestyle, Wellness and Experiential. Recent projects by Alta Capital include wellness retreats and hotels in Thailand. Alta Capital is licensed as an asset manager under the SFC HK.

 Rakesh has a 20 year track record of private real estate and hospitality investments, alongside a 29 year career in investment banking. He built and led businesses with Asian and Global scope at HSBC and Jardine Group, being a member of the Excos for Global Markets Asia-Pacific, Global Equities and Global Institutional Coverage, as well as HSBC Board directorships in India, Taiwan and HK. His real estate investments cover France, Spain, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Australia.

 He graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc (Economics) and has further education from MIT in Commercial Real Estate, Cornell in Hotel Asset Management, and Wharton in Social Entrepreneurship. He holds an Asset Management Type 9 license from the SFC HK, is a member of the HK Green Building Council and has accreditation by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
